Another Rebekah Funny

Rebekah found a blue paci this morning under Rachel's bed.

We asked her,
"Don't you think it's time to get rid of the paci?
Don't you think you are too old to be using one?"

She answered,
"No. I need it to keep the flies out of my mouth!"

First Grade Writing

Rachel wrote this on Monday at school.
This was her fifth day of first grade.
We've lost a few teeth recently, so it doesn't
surprise me that she wrote about this.
It just makes me smile when I see
her writing,
her spelling,
her thoughts,
her drawing,
(which is a perfect drawing of her in her bed)
and her creativity.

Just had to share this with all of you!

Please accept my apologies, Ms. Buck.
I touched, I scanned, and I returned it to her binder.
I know we are just supposed to look and not touch,
but I couldn't resist!

Rebekah Funnies...

My darling little Rebekah, she is just so precious and funny now. Wanted to share a few precious and funny things she is saying and doing right now. Plus, if I document them here, I'll have something to refer back too!

One of my favorite things is when I say, "I love you." She responds with, "Love too!" Melts my heart every time!

She is really into pretend play right now. She will walk around the house, talking on her phone from her kitchen set. She will walk around, with her purse on her shoulder, saying things like, "Oh my gosh!" "Is he in trouble?" "What happened?" "Are you okay?" Then she says, "I gotta go. Bye-bye!" Every time I ask her who was she talking to, she says, "Ms. Kim" and then she tells me one of the following stories:

1. Ms. Kim has a big deck at her house. Where is her deck? In her closet. Her house is really far far away!

2. Ms. Kim has a cat. Her cat is on her roof. I need to go help her get it down. OK. I'm back. I got her cat down. I didn't use a ladder. I just reached up, up and up and got her cat down.

It's so funny to watch her. Sad too, guess she sees me doing this WAY too much. I do talk to my friend, Kim, on the phone a lot. And I guess in my little three year old's eyes, sometime major must be going on every time we talk. So keep this in mind...they are watching you. Even when you think they aren't paying any attention!

Another thing, since we have moved into the new house, she likes to invite us to HER new house. Now her house is usually either her bedroom or the playroom. She invites us in and closes the door and tells us all about HER new house. Guess this is a play off us showing off our new house!

Here are some of her most recent cute pronunciations:
1. "High Schoolsical" - High School Musical
2. "Dooby Doo" - Scooby Doo
3. "Chipmucks" - Chipmunks

Thanks for letting me share!

A New Meme!

Here is a fun and quick way to stay in touch...another Meme! Thanks to an old friend from college, Melissa, who sent this to me.

This one is Four, four, four, four...

1. Four places that I go over and over: Rachel's school, soon to be Rebekah's "school" or Mother's Day Out, Target and the store.

2. Four people who email me regularly: Ann, Stephanie, Cricut Newsletter, and now Build-a-Bear.

3. Four of my favorite places to eat: Benihana's, Larry's Pizza, any Mexican, and Red Lobster.

4. Four places I would rather be right now: Hawaii without my kids, Disney World with my kids, on a cruise with or without my kids, and anywhere where I can listen to my book and finally finish it (Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer)!

5. Four people I think will respond (actually four people I tag): Cynthia (my sister), Natalie (a new friend and fellow scrapbooker), Karen (my blogger-friend and like she has time for one - ha!), and Faith (an old friend from college).

6. Four TV shows I watch: America's Got Talent, Criminal Minds, CSI's, and Jon and Kate Plus Eight.

Rachel's First Day of School

Rachel's first day of first grade at her new school!

She was so excited about going to first grade.
She picked out her outfit for the first day...
ALL High School Musical.
She also has a HSM backpack and lunch box.

We were really impressed with the school
when we went to the Open House on Sunday.
The school is really colorful and clean.
Her room was decorated in a farm theme.
There was a barn with a ladder in the
corner, a nice place to read a book.

We also love her teacher, Ms. Buck.
She seems so nice and fun.

For Open House, Rachel made her a card.
She came to me before we left and said she
wanted to put a gift inside for her teacher.
She said she wanted to give her money.
I told her, "Well, you have your tooth fairy
money if you want to share it with her."
So, she put $1 inside.
Guess we're already bribing the teacher! :-)

Rachel was a little hesitant to go sit at her desk.
But when she saw the girl next to her had on a
HSM shirt too, she was more excited to sit down.
(Doesn't the boy behind her look like he's checking her out?)

Hopefully she has a great day!!

I'm Loving Craigslist!

We have some stuff we were wanting to sell. Our old washer, dryer, an old computer desk, a file cabinet, some monster stereo speakers, some bookshelf speakers and TV trays. Not to mention the dozens of boxes we had unpacked (wanted to give these away, not sell them). I hated the thought of throwing them all away.

First, I checked to see if anyone had posted want ads for the things I had. The only thing I found was a couple needing moving boxes. So, I posted everything else on Saturday night and sent the couple an email about the boxes. They came and picked up all the boxes (Michelle - I saved six for you!) on Sunday. Today, we sold the washer and dryer - literally, they are gone and we have cash in hand. And tonight I have a commitment to purchase the TV trays! I've also had several questions about the speakers and the computer desk. We'll see! But it was really easy and FREE!

Check it out if you haven't already. I'm amazed. We also were able to sell our old refrigerator from our old house on Craigslist too. This was back in the spring. Just had to share my excitement. Be watching soon for more new house photos!!!

Back to Blogging...

Well, we are in our new house and LOVING every minute of it. Sorry I have been absent from the blogging world...I have just been TOO tired to think...let alone blog. I'll give you a recap of all that has gone on.

Friday, August 1st - Closed on the house.
Monday, August 4th - Moved out of apartment and spent first night in home.
Tuesday, August 5th - Alarm system installed and activated, TV mounted on wall, Frank (my step-dad) came and fixed our couch and my desk.
Wednesday, August 6th - Locks re-keyed, Terminix and wood privacy fence started.
Thursday, August 7th - Play Day
Monday, August 11th - DirecTV Satellite installed.

Movers vent...first they were three hours late showing up. I had reserved a three man team, along with their biggest truck. A two man team and their smallest truck showed up. In the two and a half hours it took for them to load up the apartment stuff, they took three smoke breaks and helped themselves to the cokes in our refrigerator. Finally, the large truck showed up, along with two more men to go load up the storage building. Oh yeah, they also showed up with NO blankets, no rope and no tools to take things apart! Then, they proceeded to just throw everything in the trucks. So, needless to say, we had several things broken, chunks taken out of furniture and my desk was broken in three places. Yeah, wasn't real happy with the "professional" movers we hired. Funny thing is, this was the same moving company we used to move us into the apartment. And we loved them, they did great then...nothing even scratched! So, if you're planning a move in the near future...I can tell you who NOT to call!

The Thursday after we moved, we took the day off from unpacking and spent the day with the girls. They had been real troopers during this move and we rewarded them with a trip to Build A Bear Workshop. Rachel desperately wanted the new High School Musical bear and Rebekah wanted a purple bear. So, that is what they got.

We have most all of the boxes with our stuff from the apartment unpacked and put away. There are a few things in our dining room that need to find a home. Our garage is another story. It contains all of our stuff that was in storage and Betty's things from her apartment. It will take a while to get through all of those boxes. But I did get out there and get all the boxes pushed to the perimeter of the garage and we are able to park two cars in there!!

New house scare...we had been seeing ants around the house. Monday night we saw a bunch by the back door. So, Tuesday I called Terminix to have them come out and treat for everything. Well, Wednesday morning, Rachel and Rebekah come running into our room telling us that ants were all in Rebekah's bed. (At the time, she was still sleeping on the trundle bed in Rachel's room). Well, there were several in the bed and a ton in their bathroom. When Terminix got here, the man told us that they were fire ants!!! Oh my!!! Thankfully we haven't seen any more in the house.

And last...we were finally able to go and get the mattresses for Rebekah's new bed. My parents went with us to get them with their truck on Sunday afternoon. Rebekah was so excited and once it was all put together, she stayed in it the rest of the night...just playing! But, when it came time to go to sleep, she was a little scared, but she did it! She's been sleeping in her room ever since! Remember, she went from the crib to sharing a room with Rachel. I'm so proud of her and I love her new BIG big girl bed.

(Yes, we still have a paci. But she only gets it at bedtime.
We'll be working on that once we all get settled and
she is good and adjusted to her new sleeping arrangements!)

Another Lost Tooth!!

After many days of her top tooth just dangling,
Rachel finally lost her first top tooth tonight.

She let her Daddy wiggle it loose after we bribed her.
We said if the tooth came out tonight, then Mommy, Daddy
and Nana would match whatever the Tooth Fairy brought.
(The Tooth Fairy left her $2 last time.)
She thought that sounded like a good idea.
She is definitely a snaggle tooth now!
Too cute!
Her other top tooth is also loose,
so she might have both gone here in a few weeks!!

So, what is the going rate for the Tooth Fairy at your house?

Lost Tooth

Rachel lost her fourth tooth on Tuesday, July 29th!! She has now lost four in a row across the bottom. Rebekah was really excited for Rachel. She wanted to see and hold the tooth. Then, she proceeded to show us her loose tooth!! Ha ha...she just loves Rachel so much and wants to be just like her!!

It's Official!!!

This past Friday, August 1st, we signed the papers and our dream house is officially ours. We are home owners again. Yesterday and today, we've been moving some things up there ourselves. And tomorrow, the movers come to pack up the apartment and then our two storage units. Don't have a lot of time right now to blog about everything...but here are some pictures for you to enjoy!

The above is my gorgeous Pantry Door and my nice new refrigerator!!

PS Keep us in your prayers tomorrow...we're supposed to have record breaking temperatures. Yesterday we broke a record with 105 degrees and a heat index of 116!!
